What would you do if you saw a hippogriff in your backyard? Now ‘s your chance to find out.

Niantic Inc., the developer of Pokémon Go just announced that they will be collaborating with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s Porkey Games to create a Harry Potter version.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will allow players to be a part of the Harry Potter world. The game connects AR and the real-world mobile gaming platform, so the game will be similar to Pokémon Go. By exploring their real-world neighborhoods, players will learn and cast spells, discover artifacts and come face-to-face with some fantastic beasts.

The founder and CEO of Niantic Inc., John Hanke, commented on the announcement saying,

“At Niantic, our goal is to leverage technology to create real-world experiences that help people to discover the wonderful and often magical parts of the world around them. The beloved Harry Potter stories have captured imaginations worldwide for more than 20 years, and soon we’ll turn the fantasy into augmented reality, allowing fans and their friends to become wizards and witches.”

The President of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, David Haddad also commented on the game, saying that they are “allowing the passionate, worldwide fan base to experience J.K. Rowling’s deeply powerful and imaginative universe in a new, truly immersive way. It is wonderful to have Niantic’s remarkable augmented reality expertise as we develop this incredibly rich wizarding world for players to explore in their everyday lives.”

The magical AR mobile game is set to launch in 2018.
