After numerous reports of Fox’s Gambit being delayed, Executive Producer Simon Kinberg has some good news to offer.
Comic Book Resources is reporting Kinberg told The Hashtag Show that he hopes that the film will begin production in Spring 2017, saying “We have a great script on that and hope to shoot that movie at the beginning of spring next year.”
The film was set for release this October, however, it was pulled because Kinberg felt that the script wasn’t ready at the time. “We just didn’t get the script to the place that we all felt like that movie deserved, so we’re still working on the script – we’re very close, actually, to being done with the script,” he said back in May.
He also added:
“There was a moment where we were going to shoot the movie at the beginning of this year, and then we felt it just wasn’t ready. So, knowing – hoping – that Gambit is, like Deadpool was, the start of a new franchise within the X-Men Universe, we want to make sure to get it right.“
Gambit, which stars Channing Tatum, may be released in 2018, with March 2 or June 29 as possible dates.
