It’s Upfront Week, and many shows are finding out their fates and what the future holds for them. Gotham found out it’s fate Sunday, and the news may leave diehard fans starting off their week sadly.
FOX ordered the DC series’ fifth and final season.
Sources say that the final season will focus mainly on Bruce Wayne’s transformation into Batman.
Gotham‘s producers had this to say:
The fifth and final season will wrap up this unique origin story of the great DC Comics Super-villains and vigilantes, which revealed an entirely new chapter that has never been told.
David Mazouz, who plays young Bruce Wayne on the show, posted a farewell to the fans Sunday and thanked the network for giving them the opportunity to properly end the series.
Gotham premiered in 2014, and was produced by Warner Bros. TV, Bruno Heller, Danny Cannon and John Stephens.
It has kept a relatively strong audience since. A recent move from Mondays to Thursdays was made to assist in keeping the audience. The cast of Gotham includes Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, Morena Baccarin, Sean Pertwee, Robin Lord Taylor, Erin Richards, David Mazouz, Cory Michael Smith, Drew Powell, Alexander Siddig and Crystal Reed.
Of Fox’s other series, only Lucifer was cancelled this year.
