5 Moments From the ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Trailer That Hurt Hard

Around this time last year, I wrote an article highlighting all of the badass moments from the Avengers: Infinity War trailer. We had slow-motion running, spidey senses, the iconic Avengers quote and more! It was truly epic. Well, fast forward to today where I am now writing an article about all of the times the Avengers: Endgame trailer made me want to curl up and cry. While I was certainly expecting a somewhat bleak trailer, I didn’t think Marvel would go this bleak. Thank goodness for Scott Lang/Ant-Man, right? So, without further ado, read on to see the 5 moments from the Endgame trailer that made my heart hurt.

Tony’s Recording

The trailer wasted no time cutting to the grim chase. It opens with Tony, who is floating through space without food and water, leaving a heart-wrenching message to Pepper Potts.

[row]”Hey Ms. Potts, if you find this recording don’t feel bad about this. Part of the journey is the end. Just for the record, being adrift in space with zero promise of rescue is more fun than it sounds…When I drift off, I will dream about you. It’s always you.”[/row]

He says that the oxygen will run out the next morning, so hopefully, someone comes and “rescues” him or we will have a major problem. Also, the moment when he says ‘I will dream about you. It’s always you.’ we were NOT okay and neither were you.

The Marvel Logo

Look, I have not been able to get that image of Peter Parker fading to dust out of my head since April, so, I really didn’t need Marvel rubbing it in my face by having their logo suffer the same fate as him and our other favorite heroes.  #StillTooSoon.

Sad Steve + Thor

When Steve Rogers cries, we cry, right? If Captain America can’t even keep it together, how on Earth are we supposed to? Also, to be honest, this is on the list because I am in deep mourning over the loss of Cap’s beard as well.

Thor may be having an 8 Mile moment here, but I’ll allow it. He has literally lost everything. His brother, his mother, his brother again, his father, his hammer, his home, half of his people, Heimdall, his brother again, his eye, AND half of his superhero friends. Thor needs a damn break and my heart hurts for him.

The “Missing” Photos

Animated GIF

Hulk Sad. The scene where Bruce is looking at the photos of the heroes deemed “missing” is definitely a tough one. Thanks to the closing moments of the trailer, we all know that Scott Lang somehow makes it out of the Quantum realm, but the other two photos that pop up are Shuri and Peter Parker. We saw Peter disappear in Infinity War, but no one on Earth knew that he went into space, so, not only do Cap & Co. have no idea where he is, if Aunt May survived Thanos’ snap, she is probably so distraught over Peter’s whereabouts. Also, where is Shuri??

Hawkeye’s Return

Seeing Hawkeye made me hurt for a couple of reasons. First, it reminded me that he wasn’t in Infinity War at all, which was truly a travesty. Second, right as he’s introduced you can hear Steve’s voiceover saying “we lost family”. If Hawkeye’s family all disappeared after Thanos’ snap, I’m not sure I’m going to be able to handle the emotional turmoil he’ll be going through.

What moment in the trailer made your heart hurt? Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26, 2019. Watch it again below if you’re feeling dark.
