“Three’s Company” Movie in the Works

“Come and knock on our door!” Looks like ABC’s iconic 1970’s television show may be coming to the big screen in the near future.

The Hollywood Reporter said that New Line Cinema is in negotiations to develop a movie based on ‘Three’s Company‘. The reboot would include writers, Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein (He’s Just Not That Into You) and producer, Robert Cort (Runaway Bride).

The original show ran from 1977 through 1984 and starred John Ritter (who played Jack), Joyce DeWitt (who played Janet) and Suzanne Somers (who played Chrissy). The show followed the misadventures of the two women and one man living in one apartment, as well as their interactions with their neighbors, during a time when such a living arrangement was not the norm. The three got into many hilarious and taboo situations.

To be honest, I am not sure how this big screen version will work out, especially in this day and age. Early reports are saying that the reboot movie will take place during the 1970’s and, much of what was considered “taboo” then, may not be so shocking today. If done correctly and well, this could be a great idea for a reboot.

Enjoy!
