NBC Just Ordered a Pilot For Their Own Version of ‘Lost’
If your life hasn’t been the same since Lost went off the air in 2010, NBC may soon be handing out some medicine to make things better. The network has just ordered a pilot for a new drama written by Jeff Rake (The Mysteries of Laura) called Manifest, which will tell the story of a plane full of passengers that disappears from the radar, eventually being presumed lost at sea, that all of the sudden returns years later.
But can you have a “new” Lost without some sort of crazy twist? Nope.
What’s interesting about the high-concept thriller is that for all of the passenger’s loved ones left behind at home, years have passed and they’ve moved on with their lives, but when the plane returns no time has passed for the people that are on board. Woah.
The series would follow the personal lives of both sets of people as well as the larger mystery surrounding the disappearance. It’s still to be determined if polar bears will be playing a part in the mythology.
Rake will write the script and executive produce alongside Back to the Future’s Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke. Since NBC has only ordered the pilot, there’s a chance that Manifest may never hit the small screen, but we sure hope it does because the concept already has us excited!

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
