‘Halloween’ Sequel Filming has been Delayed until January

Michael Myers isn’t quite ready to return to Haddonfield just yet. The new Halloween movie, which is being written as a direct sequel to John Carpenter’s 1978 classic will be delaying its filming.

Bloody Disgusting recently reported that production is being delayed until early in 2018. Although the filming itself will be delayed, the cast and crew are still aiming for an October 2018 release – just in time for the Halloween season.

Directed by David Gordon Green, who co-wrote the script with comedy mastermind Danny McBride, this Halloween revival was supposed to kick off this past October. The cameras and the script are ready to go, but the cast however is not quite set just yet.

Jamie Lee Curtis will be revising her role as Laurie Strode, the iconic hero of the first movie. Joining her will be Judy Greer, who is in talks to play Strode’s daughter, Karen. Aside from this duo, there are still quite a few cast members that need to be found and it is speculated as the cause of delay.

This casting delay is supported by a new casting call that went out in South Carolina via The Island Packet. The site confirms that shooting on the new Halloween movie is set for mid-January 2018. Since it is such early start and only a few months delay, it’s suspected that Michael Myers will still be making his big screen return on October 19, 2018.

One thing that is pretty cool about this film is that John Carpenter, creator of Michael Myers, has a heavy hand in this new production. He will be returning as an executive producer. He has promised to deliver a new score for the soundtrack, utilizing some of the classic music he created for the first movie. The story is set to take place years after the events seen in the 1978 movie.

The plot will apparently forget the events of every single sequel following the first movie. New Movie means new rules! What makes this movie even cooler, is that the film will be going to such lengths as changing what happened in the final minutes of the original Halloween movie.

It is speculated that Lorie Strode will no longer be Myers’ sister, an idea that wasn’t introduced until the Rick Rosenthal directed Halloween 2. Bloody Disgusting have this as their synopsis.

“In Gordon Green’s movie, Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.”

Regardless of whatever the plot line may wind up being, or when this film will actually be released, we are highly looking forward to this new blockbuster.
