Billy Dee Williams to Return as Lando in ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’

If you saw Solo: A Star Wars Story in a theater recently, chances are you’re familiar with Lando Calrissian, who was played by Donald Glover in the 2018 standalone Star Wars movie. As we all remember, Lando was introduced to fans in 1980’s Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back in the form of Billy Dee Williams before he later returned in 1983’s Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Ever since the sequel trilogy was announced, fans have been speculating whether or not we would see Williams play Lando again by the end of Episode IX.

Today, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Billy Dee Williams will be returning as Lando Calrissian for Star Wars: Episode IX. The Hollywood Reporter also reported that this was already speculated when Williams canceled his appearance at a convention claiming that a particular movie was getting in the way.

This is not the only news related to Episode IX that broke out in the past week. Variety reported that Keri Russell is joining the cast of Star Wars: Episode IX as well.

It is unknown how Lando will be incorporated into the plot of Episode IX, at this point; however, I am very interested to see where Billy Dee Williams takes us. What type of role do you see Lando taking on in the 2019 J.J. Abrams movie? Let me know in the comments below!
