Just last week, rumors of Woody Harrelson’s potential involvement in the Young Han Solo standalone film were running rampant on the internet. This Wednesday, however, it was confirmed that the veteran actor will, in fact, be taking part in the upcoming film.
Harrelson joins an already stellar cast including Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo), Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian) and Emilia Clarke. The production will be the second standalone film with a storyline reaching outside of the Skywalker related saga and is set to take place prior to the era of A New Hope.
The film’s directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are thrilled that Harrelson has joined the cast and said:
“We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody… His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong.”
The Young Han Solo film does not yet have an official title but is scheduled for release in 2018.
