Alexander Skarsgård Cast in New BBC/AMC Miniseries ‘The Little Drummer Girl’

Fresh off his Emmy win for his role in HBO’s Big Little Lies, Alexander Skarsgård is taking on a new role on the small screen. BBC One and AMC just announced that Skarsgård has been cast as the male lead in their upcoming miniseries The Little Drummer Girl.

The Little Drummer Girl is a six-part miniseries that follows “brilliant young actress Charlie (Florence Pugh) who strikes up an acquaintance with an intriguing stranger while on holiday in Greece, but it rapidly becomes apparent that his intentions are far from romantic. The man is Becker (Skarsgård), an Israeli intelligence officer, who entangles her in a complex and high stakes plot which unfolds as she takes on the role of a lifetime in the ‘theatre of the real’.”

It is based on the novel of the same name by John le Carré, who also wrote the source material for The Night Manager, which put Emmy’s in the hands of Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie. The series will be directed by Park Chan-Wook, who will be making his television debut and produced by BBC One, AMC and The Ink Factory.

The show is expected to begin production in 2018, which is good because Skarsgård was recently spotted on the red carpet rocking a pretty interesting look for his new movie, The Hummingbird Project.
