Tony Danza and Josh Groban Team Up in Netflix’s ‘The Good Cop’ Trailer

Josh Groban is putting his guitar down and picking up a pair of nerdy glasses and a badge for his first leading television role in The Good Cop. Netflix has just released the first trailer for the upcoming buddy comedy series, which also stars Who’s the Boss? star Tony Danza and the two are definitely putting their names in the hat for the next “odd couple”.

The Good Cop follows Groban as Tony Jr., an “earnest, obsessively honest NYPD detective who makes a point of always following rules” who also happens to be the son of Tony Sr. (Danza), “a disgraced NYPD officer who never followed any of the rules.” So, when Tony Sr. starts getting more and more involved with Tony Jr.’s cases the tension spikes as the two are forced to deal with their issues and figure out a way to work together despite their vastly different tactics.

The first trailer really focuses on the interesting father-son dynamic the duo has. Despite their flawed relationship, Tony Sr.  strives to give advice on everything from handling suspects to handling women to Tony Jr, and Tony Jr. does his best to get his dad to live life more by the books.

The Good Cop is in great procedural hands as Monk’s Andy Breckman will be helming the series. Breckman led USA’s crime-solving comedy Monk on to win eight Emmy awards during its eight-season run from 2002-2009. The 10-episode first season also stars Monica Barbaro and Brooke Carrell. You can check out the full trailer below!

The series currently doesn’t have a premiere date, but you can read the full Netflix synopsis below.
