When discussing Avengers: Infinity War comes the talk of certain endings. The movie, which has ties to Avengers 4 but will be its own separate entity, is going to shake things up within the MCU as we know it.
This thought is only cemented by a recent interview with Joe Russo. He spoke with The Afternoon Show and said that there has to be a final chapter to have a new beginning.
‘My brother and I are firm believers that nothing has value unless it has an ending at some point and I do believe that this has been a really, really interesting experiment in filmmaking, what Marvel’s done over the last 10 years, is serialized storytelling through multiple franchises. That’s never been done before, and it’s important, I think, for this ‘book,’ if you want to call it that, that’s been written over these 19 films, to have an ending. To have final chapters. Infinity War is the final chapter. There will be…I’ll just say this, there will be surprises in the movie and I feel the audience should be prepared, going in, for surprises.’
Now, when he says surprises, we are all sort of anticipating major deaths so maybe the surprise is that we aren’t losing some of our favorites after all! Maybe they just go off to spend their time knitting or on a beach or having game nights every Friday.
Hey, we can dream, right?
What we do know for sure is those new beginnings are going to let other heroes have their time in the spotlight, and for that, we are grateful.
‘There will be some endings and new beginnings. You look at the incredible success of Black Panther, and I think the universe will be very healthy moving forward, and it’s time for some new characters to shine.’
We want to learn more about their stories and see more of what exists in their hearts.
Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27th.
