“There’s a lot more Maggie story to tell.”
Now, we know just how many episodes she will be appearing in under her new contract with AMC. As of now, Cohan is only contracted to appear in 6 of the 8 episodes for The Walking Dead’s first half of season 9.
Her new ABC series Whiskey Cavalier will begin shooting this summer, so there’s no official word yet as to how many episodes of 9B Cohan would be appearing in, but the good news is that her ABC contract allows her to shoot The Walking Dead while Cavalier is on hiatus.
While it’s not uncommon for characters to be MIA in an episode or two of The Walking Dead, the series has definitely set Maggie up to be a key player in season 9 and beyond as the leader of the Hilltop, so it will be interesting to see how they incorporate her absence should she not be able to return full-time for 9B. Even though it’s not the best situation, we are just grateful that Cohan and AMC were able to make it work because we can’t imagine The Walking Dead without Maggie!
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
