Snoop Dogg Set to Host ‘The Joker’s Wild’ Game Show Reboot on TBS

We’ve seen him rap.  We’ve seen him hilariously narrate nature shows.  We’ve seen him puzzlingly team up with Martha Stewart for a VH1 series.  But, can you picture Snoop Dogg as a Game Show Host?  We really can’t either but, turns out, it’s about to happen!

TBS has announced that it is reviving the 1970’s game show The Joker’s Wild and, apparently, Snoop Dogg is a huge, long-time fan.  Snoop will be taking on the responsibilities of hosting as well as acting as executive producer for the game show.  Michael Strahan (yup, former football player and current host on Good Morning America) is also signed on as an executive producer.

Snoop commented on his new gig in a statement:

“I’m a huge fan of game shows and The Joker’s Wild was my favorite show growing up.  It always matched the flavor and personality of Snoop Dogg! Me and the Snoopadelic team are excited to bring back the show and put my own personal touch on it. Get ready ya’ll, it’s gonna be a wild ride!”

TBS has added that fans of the original game show can still expect the giant slot machine to remain part of the show however, they have added, “giant dice, playing cards, streetwise questions, and problem-solving,” elements to the show as well.

Michael Bloom, senior vice president, unscripted series and specials for TNT and TBS acknowledges that Snoop may be an unconventional choice as host but calls him along with Strahan “a perfect addition to TBS’ comedy lineup.”

“When you hear the words ‘game show host,’ Snoop Dogg probably isn’t the first name to pop into your head, but it turns out he is a great fit that brings passion to this game show with a laid-back vibe to the casino-inspired craziness surrounding him. This is a labor of love for Snoop Dogg and Michael Strahan, and a perfect addition to TBS’ comedy lineup.”
