Shane Black: ‘The Predator’ is ‘the Scariest one’
If you want to see The Predator go bigger and better, you’re in luck!
AMC theaters as a new mini-feature, where Shane Black and the cast of the upcoming sequel disclose their thoughts on it. The consensus shared, is that the new film is the biggest, scariest movie in the franchise.
Sterling K. Brown, who stars in the film, had this to say: “With Predator, there’s another level of menace, of terror The Predator can take,”
Shane Black seconded Brown on this, “This is the scariest one. We’re upgrading the Predator to the next level of deadliness.” The sequel is described as having a Predator who is haunted by a genetically enhanced ultimate Predator with humanity caught in the crossfire.
He went on to say, “From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home. The universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species.”
So it sounds like the scale of the Predator we’ve seen before has definitely increased. Not only that, but the hunting themes evolve in the film, making the narrative more exciting, and a more expansive world for the viewer.
“We love growing this thing,” said Black. “Trying to encompass in one movie all the genre things that we love.”
The film stars Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Alfie Allen, Jane Thomas, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey, and Yvonne Strahovski.
The Predator is directed by Shane Black, written by Shane Black and Fred Dekker. It hits theaters on September 14th.
