We haven’t seen the last of Jason Voorhees! During a recent interview, producer Brad Fuller (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows) spilled some seriously exciting news about an upcoming new take on the Friday the 13th franchise.
Fuller sat down with The Reel World to discuss the TMNT film however, as a huge horror fan, the interviewer couldn’t resist asking him about the Friday the 13th rumor mill.
In the clip below, Fuller says that they had been reviewing scripts for years however, the majority of the screenplays surrounded the “found footage” twist which, Fuller says, doesn’t fit into Jason Voorhees’ world.
Fuller goes on to explain, the new film will be go back, start over and work forward. When the interview asks if this is an origin story, Fuller’s response is:
“Origin-ish, but it’s an origin that no one has seen before. Obviously Pamela’s there, but it’s a little bit different from what you’ve seen before.”
The screen play will be written by Aaron Guzikowski with Fuller producing alongside Michael Bay and Andrew Form. The screenplay is reportedly still being worked on.
