Kirsten Dunst Shuts Down ‘Spider-Man’ Reboots
Kirsten Dunst certainly did not sugarcoat her feelings about the Spider-Man reboots.
The actress – who played Mary Jane Watson in the original three films – told Vanity Fair she “didn’t care” about the new films, adding: “Everyone likes our Spider-Man. C’mon, am I right or what? Listen, I’d rather be in the first ones than the new ones.” She also expressed her wishes for a fourth installment. “I wanted to be in that movie so badly. I loved it, and I wish we could have made a fourth.”
Divergent actress Shailene Woodley had filmed some scenes as Mary Jane for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, however, her scenes were ultimately cut from the film due to director Marc Webb not wanting to destroy Peter and Gwen Stacy’s romance. It was rumored that Zendaya would take on the iconic role in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming, but the actress confirmed she is not, telling ET Online, “Well, I’m not Mary Jane unfortunately, but I am in the movie which is exciting. My character’s name is Michelle, if that’s what everybody wants to think. I’m gonna let people think whatever they want to think.”
