Johnny Depp Joins the NFT Club, Announcing His First Series of NFTs
The NFT hype train has drawn in a new passenger: Johnny Depp.
On Jan. 26, he launched an NFT project called “Never Fear Truth,” which would be a digital replica of his artwork based on friends, family, and people the actor admires (like Marlon Brando).
Never Fear the Truth will issue over 10,000 NFTs and 25% of the profits will be donated to various causes including as Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital and The Gonzo Trust, according to this video here.
Talking about the project, Johnny Depp said:
“My paintings surround my life, but I kept them to myself and limited myself. No one should ever limit themselves.”
For people who were interested in these NFTs, Depp created a discord server where they could discuss them. With over 35.000 members, the server has already gathered a lot of interest, and that number is unlikely to go down. So there’s clearly a lot of enthusiasm for this new project, but only time will tell how well the project will do!
Non fungible tokens, which are unique digital assets based in the blockchain, are all the rage right now. They have a lot of potential to revolutionize the way that we interact with digital content and assets. For example, they could be used to create a digital collectibles marketplace where people could buy, sell, and trade unique digital assets.
