Happy Birthday to one of our #TWDFamily members, David Morrissey who turns 53 today.
Born in 1964, David Mark Morrissey was born in Kensington, Liverpool, England.
David is a well-accomplished actor, director, producer, and screenwriter. In 1982, at the age of 18, he gained a role in One Summer for Yorkshire Television.
Early in his career, he appeared in a variety of films some of which include The Widowmaker and a British adaptation of Robin Hood.
More notably he appeared alongside Hilary Swank in The Reaping, he portrayed Thomas Howard in The Other Boleyn Girl and played the role of Jackson Lake in Doctor Who.
But we all know and love him the best for his role as Philip Blake, a.k.a. The Governor on the AMC series The Walking Dead. He began his role in the third season and continued until he met his demise in the season four mid-season finale. He returned for a cameo appearance in the season 5 mid-season premiere episode What Happened and What’s Going On as one of Tyreese’s hallucinations.
David is married to novelist Esther Freud and the couple has 3 children, Albie, Anna, and Gene.
