You read that right folks, Ben McKenzie will be directing an upcoming episode for Gotham. The announcement came on Monday when a Facebook Live interview was taking place for TV Guide Magazine.

“There will be another Gordon family member that will be introduced, so I can tease that. Actually, that’s part of the episode that I get to direct.”

On Tuesday, the awesome news came that James Remar was cast as Frank Gordon, the estranged uncle of Jim. Just like Fish Mooney, Frank Gordon will be an original character that doesn’t exist in the DC Universe.

This will be the very first time that Ben McKenzie will direct an episode all by himself. He almost did an episode on Southland and has been shadowing directors for a few years. He is very excited about it, and we are too!

“Yes, my first time ever directing,” he said. “I’m so excited. I start prepping right before Christmas and start shooting right after. So, very soon. I’m reading the outlines right now.”

The episode will take place in the second half of this season of Gotham. But first, we await the next episode of Gotham, coming this Monday on Fox!
