Watch the New Teaser for the ’47 Meters Down’ Sequel

These days, if your film performs well at the box-office and the premise is strong enough to continue, a movie can almost guarantee a sequel order. This is the story for 47 Meters Down, the shark thriller starring Mandy Moore and Claire Holt that opened as one highest-grossing independent films of 2017 with $44 million.

Titled 47 Meters Down: The Next Chapter, as opposed to the originally reported 48 Meters Down, the film follows a similar concept as the first but instead of a two girls being trapped underwater in a cage surrounded by sharks, the film will follow a group of girls in Brazil who travel down in the deep blue sea to search for some hidden underwater ruins, which once they find they soon discover they’re not alone.

[row]”We are so pleased by the huge success of 47 Meters Down; it totally exceeded all expectations. 48 Meters Down will take the claustrophobia of cave diving and the thrill of shark encounters and move everything to the next level,” said James Harris, who works for the studio producing the film (The Fyzz Facility) shortly after the sequel was announced.[/row]

The first teaser for the film merely unveils the name but does cut together a bunch of horrifically terrifying scenes from the first movie to simply remind you just how traumatic it was to watch at times. It found Mandy Moore and Claire Holt as two sisters who decide to step out of their comfort zones and go cage-diving only for their line to snap, sending them crashing down 47 meters. With their air supply running low and sharks circling the cage left and right, the two sisters have to fight for their lives and the surface.  Check it out below!

Johannes Roberts will return to both write and direct and will be produced by Entertainment Studios and financed by The Fyzz Facility.

There haven’t been any casting announcements made yet but we do know that the film will be hitting theaters next Summer!
