“Enemies to the East. Enemies to the West. Enemies to the South. Enemies to the North. Whatever stands in our way, we will defeat it.”
The moment that we have been waiting months for has finally arrived! On Wednesday, HBO dropped the first extended look at the upcoming seventh season of Game of Thrones. The above quote, spoken by Cersei Lannister (played by Lena Headey), sets the tone of an impending all out war looming just on the horizon. Daenerys (played by Emilia Clarke) is ready to claim her right to the throne as she declares, “I was born to rule the Seven Kingdoms. And I will!” We see scenes which indicate she is executing an invasion accompanied by her almost fully grown badass dragons while Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington), being hailed as King in the North, ominously warns of the ‘Great War’ beginning.
We are warning you. This trailer is intense and will give you chills! Check it out:
The trailer dropped just days after HBO released brand new photos and a new, eerie poster, teasing us of some major conflict afoot in season 7. Additionally, in recent interviews, cast members have teased of a faster pace associated with the storytelling in this season.
Season 7 will be the second to last season for the hit HBO series with the show concluding in season 8. Both of the remaining seasons will contained a lessened amount of episodes. We just hope there’s enough time in there to finish up telling the story. In the event that there are unanswered questions, George R. R. Martin has confirmed 5 potential spinoffs (or, as he calls them successor series) which are in development.
We can’t wait for season 7 to premiere. Game of Thrones season 7 debuts July 16th at 9pm EST on HBO.
