‘Star Wars’ International Trailer with Awesome New Footage

Star Wars international trailers are starting to make their way to the big and small screens and are revealing some awesome new footage.  This Rise of Skywalker trailer shows some of our favorite ships in interesting positions.

Director, J.J. Abrams, recently discussed the use of the ships in an article with Uproxx, saying:

“I do feel like when you look at the Falcon or the Destroyer, those are ships that you’ve seen in all sorts of situations. And usually in space, or either leaving a planet or landing on a planet or an asteroid. The idea of having the Falcon bursting through trees, or barely taking off from Jakku, those felt like fun ways of using it. When we were doing Star Trek Into Darkness, that was really about, we just really wanted to give the Enterprise a kind of reveal in the movie. In this case, and you’ll see how the Destroyers come into play, this was partly we don’t just want to see the Destroyers. We don’t want to just cut to a shot of this ship or this fleet.”

If you’re thinking it feels like Abrams is being more open about the upcoming film and that things tend to be looser and lighter, you’re right.  Abrams said:

“None of that is strategic. But I do feel about this movie, because it is the end of something everyone knows — I don’t want to be coy. I feel very confident about what the movie is. And I feel like we’ve found a way to do something that doesn’t need — and I don’t feel the need — to do smoke and mirrors at all on this. I feel we have a story that’s pretty huge in scope.”

Abrams continued, “While I don’t want to tell the whole movie to people and ruin it and I don’t want to spoil things, I feel like we need to be able to have a conversation about how, yes, Carrie Fisher appears in this movie. And I’m happy to talk about how we did it, in so much as, people know, it’s really her. We didn’t do a digital Carrie. Yes, Palpatine is in this movie. I don’t want to talk about what that is and how. So I’m not unguarded, because I want to make sure people enjoy the experience when they go. But I feel, about this movie, a little more open, I guess, than I have before.”

One big secret almost got out entirely, when star, John Boyega, recently left a copy of his entire script behind and it was picked up by a cleaning lady.  The script then made it’s way to eBay, where it was sold to a quick-thinking Disney employee.  Could you imagine if it had made its way into the wrong hands?

Let us know your thoughts on the trailer below.  What are you most excited about with the upcoming film, The Rise of Skywalker?
