Movie stars have been heading to TV faster than ever these days and now we have two more to add to the list. Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom and supermodel and Paper Towns actress Cara Delevingne are cruising on over to Amazon to star in the new original series, Carnival Row.
According to its press release, Carnival Row is “fantasy-noir set in a neo-Victorian city” where “mythical creatures fleeing their war-torn homeland have gathered in the city, and tensions are simmering between citizens and the growing immigrant population.” Bloom will be playing a police inspector named Rycroft Philostrate, who is looking into the death of a faerie showgirl on Carnival Row. Delevigne will be playing Vignette Stonemoss, a faerish refugee who is dealing with the human prejudice against her own kind and the secrets that have followed her to this new land.
Bloom has also signed on as a producer for the show, which already includes its eight-episode first season that Amazon ordered to series. Carnival Row is based on Travis Beacham’s script, A Killing on Carnival Row.
Do you think you will be tuning in for Carnival Row?
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
