Bethany Joy Lenz is going from small-town family drama to big city medical drama. The One Tree Hill alum will be guest starring on season 14 of ABC’s long-running series, Grey’s Anatomy as a character named Jenny. The news comes just a day after series regular Martin Henderson hung up his Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital scrubs and headed to Los Angeles with recurring guest star Abigal Spencer.
There isn’t much information about Lenz’s character aside from her name and the fact that she will be recurring, but Lenz is certainly stoked to be joining the series, which is approaching a legendary 300 episodes.
She wrote: “I’m SO excited to be a part of this wonderful show for a while. It’s a television institution and I couldn’t be more grateful to have been invited. #greysanatomy#shondaland @greysabc @abcnetwork@shondalandtv 👩🏼⚕️”
Lenz isn’t new to Shondaland though. She was originally cast in Shonda Rhimes’ recent series The Catch but ended up being recast after the pilot was shot, so it’s great to see that she was able to team back up with the famous EP. Lenz has most recently appeared on Colony, American Gothic, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Many will probably recognize Lenz from her starring role on One Tree Hill where she played Haley James for 9 seasons from 2003-2012.
Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
