CBS has officially announced that a new Star Trek franchise is actually going to happen! It is expected to begin scheduling in January 2017.
Alex Kurtzman, who wrote the newest films, has been signed on to write the series as an executive producer.
Unfortunately, we are still to far away from production to know who has been cast or what the basic premise will be. All we know is that the characters will be introduced “to explore strange new worlds” and “to seek out new life and new civilizations.”
The new series will also be distributed globally! However, the show will only be available on CBS All Access… Cable subscribers will get the premiere episode first, but after that, it’s heading online.
There are rumors that the series will pick up where The Undiscovered Country left off. There are also rumors that the Enterprise will not return for the show.
So YAY! A Star Trek show is coming!
Told hold you over until that happens, here’s a funny video from Into Darkness and how about an amazing video from the late Leonard Nimoy.
