It’s official! A musical based on Michael Jackson is in the works!
The Michael Jackson Estate and Columbia Live Stage are developing the production together, but the details are still under lock and key.
All we know so far is that the untitled musical’s book will be written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage (Ruined, Sweat) and directed and choreographed by Tony winner Christopher Wheeldon (An American in Paris). The score will include some of MJ’s most loved songs although none have been confirmed yet.
What songs should they include? There are too many to choose from.
As for the plot, it could go one of several ways: MJ’s music career, his transition from child star to King of Pop, his various controversies, his life off the stage, who knows?
There is also no word as to who will be cast in the production.
The musical will moonwalk onto Broadway in 2020!
