Hildur Gudnadottir To Write Score for Joaquin Phoenix’ ‘Joker’

It’s a good day for DC Comics superhero movies! Earlier today we already talked about Hans Zimmer returning to compose superhero movies, and now, the Joker movie that Todd Phillips (The Hangover, Watchdogs) is directing has found its composer.

They have found its writer in Hildur Gudnadottir, an Icelandic composer who is known for her scores in Sicario (2015), Sicario: Day of the Soldado (which came out last June and stars Deadpool’s, Josh Brolin), and 2013’s Prisoners starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Jackman, and Viola Davis. It’s not the first time that Hildur Gudnadottir does to score for a movie where Joaquin Phoenix stars in, as she also did the score for Mary Magdalene.

Joker the movie will be the first origin movie we are getting of the clown prince of crime. Not a lot is known about this movie, which is normal considering they’ll only start the production in September in New York. We do know they’ll be following Alan Moore‘s The Killing Joke comics, where a failed comedian trying to provide for himself and his family goes insane and turns into the textbook sociopath we know today.

About a two weeks ago Zazie Beetz was announced to join the cast of the Joker origin story, together with Marc Maron, Bryan Callen, and Robert DeNiro.

What do you think of Hildur Gudbadottir as the composer for the Joker origin movie? Let us know in the comments below.

Joker will start its production this September in New York and will hit theaters on October 4, 2019.
