Zazie Beetz Confirmed for Todd Phillips’ ‘Joker’ Film

Many rumors have been surrounding the Joker movie that Todd Phillips is directing. Not many cast members are announced to join the film, and we only know that the film’s storyline is going to be based on the Alan Moore ‘The Killing Joke‘ comics.

One of those rumors apparently got confirmed by That Hashtag Show. Zazie Beetz was rumored to appear as Joker’s love interest in the film that goes by the name Sophie Dumond, a single mother who lives in the Lower East Side of Gotham City, described as an African American woman who Joaquin Phoenix’ Joker takes an interest in her.

Other cast members added to the list are Marc Maron, Bryan Callen, and Robert De Niro. It’s a wide range of each strong actors that I believe will bring us one of the most exciting movies in years. The film is set to start productions in September, and everything is under lock and key, which is understandable. We know enough to connect a few dots since rumors, and official announcements started to come in over the past few weeks.

The Killing Joke was published in 1988 by DC Comics and was written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Brian Bolland. This story is how the Joker became the man we know today, where he starts off as an unsuccessful comedian that goes insane by having one bad day.

Are you excited for Zazie Beetz to take on the role of Sophie Dumond? Let us know in the comments below.

Todd Phillips’ Joker will hit the theater on October 4, 2019.
