DC’s ‘Shazam’ Starring Zachary Levi Gets a 2019 Release Date
Get ready to mark your calendars for Spring of 2019! Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have just announced the released date for the upcoming superhero flick Shazam! The film will be landing in theaters on April 19, 2019.
Shazam! stars Zachary Levi as the adult superhero version Billy Batson (aka Shazam). The young version of Billy Batson, played by Asher Angel, magically transforms into the superhero (played by Levi) anytime he says his name. The name “Shazam” is an acronym made up of the names of ancient the gods and historical figures Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury. Shazam’s powers are influenced by each one of these figures.
The film also stars Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen and Jovan Armand along with The Walking Dead‘s Cooper Andrews. Shazam! will hail from director David F. Sandberg (Lights Out) with a script by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke. Peter Safran is producing.
