With all the success and box office buzz surrounding DC and Warner Bros. Wonder Woman, it’s no surprise that fans are already looking for information about a sequel film.
While nothing had officially been confirmed yet, film director Patty Jenkins has commented in several interviews that she would love the opportunity to work on the sequel. Thanks to a recent interview with Variety, we now know that, at the very least, Jenkins is involved with the outlining process for an upcoming second film. Geoff Johns, president of DC Entertainment said in the interview:
“Patty and I are writing the treatment right now,” he said. “The goal is to make another great Wonder Woman film. I had a blast making it with Patty the first time. We’ve got a cool idea for the second one.”
Even based off of that extremely vague tiny bit of information, consider us already waiting in like to purchase tickets for the sequel film. Wonder Woman and Patty Jenkins are a match made in Themyscira!
In the past, Jenkins has even said she knows where she wants to take Wonder Woman next; to America. Jenkins told the Toronto Sun:
“I’m excited for her to come to America and become the Wonder Woman we are all familiar with from having grown up around her as an American superhero,” she said. “I’d like to bring her a little farther along into the future and have a fun, exciting storyline that is its own thing. Wonder Woman 1 is so much about her becoming the person she is. I can’t wait to spring forward with who she is and have another great standalone superhero film.”
At this time, there is no additional information on a Wonder Woman sequel but, as news breaks, we’ll be sure to bring it right to you.
DC’s next film release will be on November 17th of this year when Wonder Woman teams up with her DC pals in the highly anticipated Justice League. One thing’s for sure, we can’t wait to see more Wonder Woman!
