David Giuntoli “Could Not Be More Thrilled” About the ‘Grimm’ Spin-off in Development

In case you haven’t heard the incredibly awesome news, much to the delight of fans everywhere, there’s a new Grimm spin-off in the works at NBC!

The new spin-off series will build upon the already established Grimm universe of the original series which starred David Giuntoli (Nick), Claire Coffee (Adalind), Russell Hornsby (Hank), Bitsie Tulloch (Juliette), Silas Weir Mitchell (Monroe), Reggie Lee (Wu), Bree Turner (Rosalee) and Sasha Roiz (Captain Renard). The series is set to focus on a female Grimm with Universal TV and Hazy Mills Prods (from Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner) returning once again to develop the series with Melissa Glenn from Marvel’s Iron Fist penning the script.

Of course, this all sounds fantastic to fans of the original series and we are super excited to see what develops, but what does the original Grimm think about the spin-off? Giuntoli, who is currently starring on the ABC smash hit A Million Little Things, recently spoke with TV Guide about the new series, and it turns out, he’s totally on board!

Giuntoli told TV Guide:

[row]”I could not be more thrilled that NBC is developing a Grimmspinoff. I thought it was such a wonderful show and we built just a vibrant, colorful world. To not be able to play in that world any longer seems like such a waste. So I could not be happier for everyone involved in the Grimm spinoff.”[/row]

With the lead of the original Grimm cast totally pumped for the spin-off, what’s the likelihood of the new show landing some cameo appearances? According to initial reports, the spin-off is expecting to host some cameos from some Portland fan favorites, however, none of the original cast has been reported as involved in the project just yet. Giuntoli, however, is definitely in to appear, should his phone ring for a guest spot.

He told TV Guide:

[row]”I just want them to roll old Nick Burkhardt, his old bag of bones, off the couch every now and again for a ‘special guest star.’ And hopefully, the new female lead can do all the fight scenes.”[/row]

What do you think Grimmsters? Would you want to see David Giuntoli in a guest role on the upcoming Grimm spin-off? What other actors/characters from the original series would you also want to see on the show? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
