There’s a ‘Grimm’ Spinoff in the Works at NBC!

Get ready to get excited Grimmsters! There’s a brand new Grimm spinoff series in the works at NBC!

Deadline reports that NBC is in the process of developing a new spinoff series which would be set to focus on a female Grimm (Please let it be Trubel! Please let it be Trubel!). Universal TV and Hazy Mills Prods (from Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner) would be back once again to develop the series with Melissa Glenn from Marvel’s Iron Fist penning the script.

While the spinoff will be a new series following and featuring new characters, NBC told Deadline that it would still want to build upon the original Grimm universe. Of course, there will be new dangers, new mysteries to unravel and we can only assume that means new Wesen as well. The network also wants to keep ties to the original series. As such, viewers can expect to see some fan favorites from Portland making an appearance in a few episodes. At this time, however, none of the original cast has been reported as involved in the project.

It looks like the behind-the-scenes Grimm crew would be returning. In addition to Hazy Mills and Universal TV returning, the original co-creators/showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf would be back as well serving as consulting producers

The original series followed Nick Burkhardt, a homicide detective in Portland, Oregon. When Burkhardt starts noticing things getting a little weirder than usual around Portland, he uncovers his mystical Grimm powers. Nick soon becomes the guardian between humans and Wesen (aka. mythological beings). The series starred David Giuntoli (Nick), Claire Coffee (Adalind), Russell Hornsby (Hank), Bitsie Tulloch (Juliette), Silas Weir Mitchell (Monroe), Reggie Lee (Wu), Bree Turner (Rosalee) and Sasha Roiz (Captain Renard) and ran for a total of six seasons ending in March of last year.

At this time, there are no additional details on the plot or casting, but hopefully, we’ll have some more exciting Grimm news soon!
