While on a press tour for Now You See Me 2, Mark Ruffalo was asked in an interview with Entertainment Tonight about his next Marvel film, Thor: Ragnarok, which had its official cast announced by Marvel just a few days ago.
“It’s an intergalactic buddy road movie with Banner and Thor. I think it’ll be smashing. You’ll see a lot more Hulk in this one,” Ruffalo said. The Hulk did not appear in the Marvel film Captain America: Civil War, so this would be Mark Ruffalo’s returning film to the Marvel Universe.
During his interview, his Now You See Me 2 co-star Woody Harrelson cut in, asking:
“Does The Hulk get Hulk-ier?”
Ruffalo replied:
“The Hulk gets Hulk-ier. The Hulk Hulks out. Hulk-ier and bigger.”
“She plays the worst of the worst. So evil. She is going to kill us. It’s such a great part she gets to play.”
Well, it is certainly going to be extremely exciting to see the Oscar-winning Cate Blanchett join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She was absolutely amazing in the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies as Lady Galadriel, so I cannot wait to see what she brings to the film as this Asgardian goddess.
Although her exact character description hasn’t been laid out and confirmed for the film, if we are going down the character route as described in the comics, she’s extremely wicked and powerful. Not only does she have the god-ly Asgardian might, Hela is gifted with incredible mystic abilities. As the goddess of death, she’s able to steal souls with only a touch. Her most famous encounter with Thor was when he attempted to rescue Lady Sif from her clutches. Hela also stole a piece of Odin’s soul and created an evil entity known as ‘Infinity’, who defeated Odin and posed a major threat to the nine realms.
Check out the concept art for her character below:
Cate Blanchett and Mark Ruffalo will be joining returning Thor cast members: Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba and Sir Anthony Hopkins for the final installment of the Thor trilogy.
Thor: Ragnarok is set to be released on November 3, 2017.
