Brand New ‘Game of Thrones’ Trailer

Well wasn’t this is a surprise?

HBO have just released a brand new trailer for the final season of Game of Thrones. The new sneak peak offers a lot of new looks at the surviving characters and even raises more questions.

What is Arya running from?

What is Cersei doing?

Why am I crying already?

So, what did this trailer actually show us?

This trailer did a great job of building up the fight we’ve all been waiting for. While it showed very little of the actual fight itself and the enemy, it was very good at framing the anticipation- armies moving, meetings, weapon crafting, and of course the dragons themselves.

One thing I’m curious to see is how Cersei will contribute to the story. Just from the trailer we can see that a lot of the action will be taking place in the North. So what will Cersei’s role be? just from her face, it’s clear that she’s plotting something- although I don’t think she intends to help.

It’s amazing how small the cast has got. The journey we’ve gone on started with all of these characters and big personalities spread far and wide, but now they’re all together… in one place, potentially working together. It’s no exaggeration when I say that the trailer practically showed us everyone. Jon, Dany, Bran, Sansa, Arya, Varys, The Hound, Greyworm, Jorah, Pod, Tormund (Yes!!), Brienne, Cersei, The Mountain, just to name a few. The only characters I don’t remember seeing are Melisandre and The Night King, considering the mysteries surrounding their characters, I’m not surprised.

One of my favourite shots was definitely at the end. Seeing the army of the dead arrive on Winterfell’s doorstep was something I didn’t expect to see, it almost felt like a slap in the face. I suddenly realised that in 6 episodes time, the world we’ve immersed ourselves into and the characters that we’ve followed for 8 years would come to an end. Whether they die or get a happy ending (like that’s going to happen), it is very likely that we won’t see these characters again. The great war has arrived… and I am not prepared.

Game of Thrones arrives on April 14th. Prepare yourself for the only war that has ever mattered. Prepare to say goodbye to your favourite characters, and definitely prepare for some shocking twists. 40 Days to go.
