5 of our Favorite Lyrics from Harry Styles’ Debut Album

Harry Styles’ highly anticipated debut album dropped on May 12th and he’s been the talk of social media, as well as many big name media outlets, ever since. From album reviews to interviews and some opinion pieces on Harry’s solo journey; everyone is talking about Harry Styles.

In reality, for Harry, that’s not something that’s unheard of, but it’s something he’ll never quite get used to. He tries to keep a level of privacy when it comes to who he is, he doesn’t want to share everything about himself with the world, and doesn’t feel that he should have to. However, he did admit that this album was one he didn’t have to ‘edit himself’ for as much as with music made before One Direction’s hiatus. This allowed Harry to reveal a little bit more about himself, still without giving it all away.

All of the lyrics are based in truth, some of them are written without a personal story but from what he’s seen and been privy to while others are reflective of his own circumstances. The entire album shows off Harry’s talent as a vocalist, an instrumentalist, and a songwriter and it’s so good we can’t stop listening to it.

We wanted to share some of our favorite lyrics with you, so we managed to narrow down five songs that have some of the best lyrics on the album, although, you can’t go wrong with any song you pick.

Two Ghosts
Same lips red, same eyes blue
Same white shirt, couple more tattoos
But it’s not you, and it’s not me
Tastes so sweet, looks so real
Sounds like something that I used to feel
But I can’t touch what I see

We’re not who we used to be
We’re not who we used to be
We’re just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me
Trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat

Woman
I’m selfish, I know
But I don’t ever want to see you with him
I’m selfish, I know
I told you, but I know you never listen

I hope you can see, the shape that I’m in
While he’s touching your skin
He’s right where I should, where I should be
But you’re making me bleed

Meet Me in the Hallway
Meet me in the hallway
Meet me in the hallway
I just left your bedroom
Give me some morphine
Is there any more to do?

Just let me know, I’ll be at the door, at the door
Hoping you’ll come around
Just let me know, I’ll be on the floor, on the floor
Maybe we’ll work it out
I gotta get better, gotta get better

Sign of the Times
Just stop your crying
It’s a sign of the times
Welcome to the final show
Hope you’re wearing your best clothes

You can’t bribe the door on your way to the sky
You look pretty good down here
But you ain’t really good

Sweet Creature
Sweet creature
Had another talk about where it’s going wrong
But we’re still young
We don’t know where we’re going but we know where we belong

No, we started
Two hearts in one home
It’s hard when we argue
We’re both stubborn, I know
But oh
Sweet creature, sweet creature
Wherever I go, you bring me home

From lyrics about a sweet love story and someone bringing you home to songs about jealousy and looking at happier versions of your current self – Harry’s album has a song for absolutely everyone. We have to say, for ourselves, we can’t stop listening to ‘Woman’…it’s SUCH a tune.

Have you given the album a listen yet? What’s your favorite song?
