Netflix Cancels Naomi Watts Series ‘Gypsy’
According to Deadline, Netflix has decided to cancel the Naomi Watts series.
Although Gypsy wasn’t getting hugely popular ratings, Netflix was in conversations with the crew about doing a second season. The writers room had supposedly been active for four weeks prior to Friday’s announcement.
The Oscar nominee has a lot going on with her recently released film The Glass Castle, in which she plays the homeless mother of Brie Larson’s character, as well as Showtime series, Twin Peaks.
It seems Gypsy was in steep competition with Netflix’s 80s women’s wrestling series GLOW. Netflix announced GLOW‘s renewal Thursday.
It also has renewed Marvel’s Iron Fist and 13 Reasons Why.
Watts play therapist Jean Holloway in the series, a woman with a seemingly perfect life, until her fantasies take her down dark paths with her patients.
