‘Wonder Woman’ Surprisingly Snubbed from Oscar Nominations

On Tuesday morning, the 2018 Oscar nominations were announced for all categories and while we saw many film favorites earn nods, there were several surprises as well.  In fact, many fans and critics were surprised to learn that one of the top films of 2017 was left completely out of the awards circuit.

‘Wonder Woman’ Surprisingly Snubbed from Oscar Nominations

Wonder Woman broke all kinds of records and dominated at the box office after its release, however, the film surprisingly received no Oscar nominations.

While the film surely wasn’t perfect, many believe Wonder Woman deserved at least some recognition by the Academy.  Gal Gadot did a phenomenal job playing the role that could have secured her a Best Actress nom.  Ground-breaking director Patty Jenkins made history when she helmed the first female-fronted superhero film ever and, on top of that milestone, the film did well – very well!  Sadly, Jenkins did not receive a Best Director nom.

At the very least, fans expected the film to receive some type of technical nomination.  Wonder Woman was nominated and won for Best Performance by a Stunt Ensemble at the 2018 SAG Awards earlier this week.

While the film may not earn any Oscars, it still remains one of our favorites from 2017.  We can’t wait to see what Wonder Woman 2 has in store for us in 2019.

What do you think about Wonder Woman being snubbed by the Oscars?  Do you think the film deserved any nominations?  Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below!
