WATCH: The Foo Fighters and Rick Astley Rickroll the Crowd at Summer Sonic Festival

Just when you thought the Foo Fighters couldn’t get any more awesome, this latest viral video of their performance at Summer Sonic Festival comes along and blows us all out of the water!

The rockers were headlining at the festival in Tokyo on Sunday when they had a rare opportunity to perform one of the world’s best-known songs with the original artist.  In the middle of their performance set, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl invited 80s one-hit-wonder Rick Astley on stage for a rock and Rickrollin’  performance of epic proportions.  Astley was in town as part of the festival line up as well.

We just learned this today. Ladies and gentleman, would you please welcome our new best friend, Rick Astley,” Grohl said as Astley rushes out on to the stage.  After a brief chat, Grohl continues, “this is fucking crazy.  I just met him two minutes ago.”

But apparently, two minutes was all they needed to put together one epic cover performance.  Grohl kicked things off with a riff which sounded strikingly similar to that of Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit but, they totally Rickrolled the crowd.  “C’mon, you motherf***ers!” Astley shouts at the crowd before breaking out into his hit song Never Gonna Give You Up.

The audience went absolutely batty when Astley walked out on stage and kept that enthusiasm going throughout the entire cover, totally grooving out to the song.  We’ve got to admit, this is a pretty kickass cover!
