In a candid new interview, The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus revealed some early first information about his upcoming The Walking Dead spin-off focusing on Daryl Dixon. The Walking Dead spinoff was supposed to focus on Daryl and Melissa McBride‘s character, Carol Peletier, but McBride departed the program “due to the inability to move to Europe for the show’s filming.”
“I’m gonna go on a mission and I’m excited,” Reedus told Sirius XM’s Jose Mangin on Octane. “It’s gonna be much different than [The Walking Dead]. I think it’s gonna look different. It’s gonna feel different. It’s kind of its own thing, you know, so I’m excited to get a hold of it.”
Check out the entire interview snippet below, on the plus side, this interview was also recorded on video, allowing you to clearly see that Reedus appears to be just fine after being sidelined for a “minor” concussion while filming on set in March.
Reedus stated that he’s not really trying to hide things about the spinoff. There are aspects of it about which he is uncertain. Said Reedus, “People think I have all this power and I’m like… I really don’t. I’m just an actor for hire, really.”
After the conclusion of The Walking Dead, other spinoffs of the franchise will be coming. Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) is expected to appear in at least one The Walking Dead feature film, the anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead is already filming, and the most recently announced Isle of the Dead—which will feature Negan and Maggie, and premiere in 2023—are all still on track.
What is your favorite moment between Daryl and Carol on The Walking Dead? Do you still believe there’s a chance that the two characters will reappear in the spinoff together at some point? Let us know in the comments below.
