Victor Garber Was Apprehensive About Replacing Robbie Amell
It takes two to Firestorm, and when it came time to replace Robbie Amell, who was unable to reprise his role as Ronnie Raymond on Legends of Tomorrow, Victor Garber (Martin Stein) admits to being apprehensive about finding his other half.
During the first part of Season 2 of The Flash, Stein found another genetic match to help him complete the Firestorm matrix in Jefferson “Jax” Jackson (Franz Drameh) In an interview with Digital Spy, Garber said, “Robbie and I are friends and we had such a great time together, so when it was not an option for him to do [Legends], I was very nervous. But I went in and did a chemistry read with Franz and the minute I met him, I just had this sense that this casting was a really good idea. He’s one of the most inventive and interesting people I’ve ever worked with.”
You can feel the chemistry between the Garber and Drameh in all of their scenes together. Stein and Jax have an almost father/son relationship that grew throughout the first two seasons of Legends. They challenge each other to be better people, and have grown together as Firestorm in a way Stein and Ronnie were never able to. Some of the banter between Stein and Jax is the funniest on the show. It’s been fun having them along for the crazy ride that is Legends of Tomorrow.
Season 3 of Legends of Tomorrow airs Tuesday, October 10, on The CW.
