Look out ’cause here they come… the soundtrack for The Greatest Showman, the latest original musical to hit theaters, is well on its way to hitting the coveted No. 1 spot on next week’s Billboard 200 Albums Chart!
To those who have seen the movie or even just heard the soundtrack this news is really no surprise. The Greatest Showman’s original music and lyrics were written by the masterminds behind La La Land and Dear Evan Hansen who brilliantly created a soundtrack full of rousing and catchy tunes that advanced the plot of the movie in the perfectly subtle way a musical should. Each song takes you along on P.T. Barnum’s journey to bring the circus to life and all of the extraordinary people who help him along the way.
Even though the film got off to a bumpy start at the box office, word of mouth and incredible marketing from 20th Century Fox helped catapult it to much stronger numbers heading into 2018. According to forecasters, the album could earn over 80,000 equivalent albums this week, which would make it the first soundtrack to top the chart since March of last year when Fifty Shades Darker spent a week there.
The soundtrack originally debuted at No. 71 on December 30 chart and then jumped up to spot 63 the following week before completely blasting off to the No. 5 spot after its wide theater release. It features the vocal talents of an all-star cast including Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Zac Efron, Zendaya and Keala Settle whose anthem “This Is Me” is guaranteed to received some award love this season.
The next Billboard 200 list will be released on Sunday, January 7th – the same day as the Golden Globe Awards for which The Greatest Showman is nominated for Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, Best Actor for Hugh Jackman, and Best Original Song for “This Is Me”.

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
