Syfy Orders Pilot for Superman Prequel Krypton
Syfy has officially placed an order for the pilot of the long in-development Superman prequel series, Krypton (Variety). The series will follow Kal-El’s grandfather and will show the rise of the House of El on a Krypton two decades before its destruction. At that time, the House of El is a disgrace and Superman’s ancestors will be working to restore their name.
Batman Begins, Man of Steel, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice screenwriter David S. Goyer will pen the pilot alongside Ian Goldeberg (Once Upon a Time). He will also serve as an executive producer. Damon Kandler will act as an executive producer and showrunner.
In an interview with Variety in 2014, Goyer hinted that there would be a deep connection to the DC Comics universe in this series. He later went on to say that there will be a lot of mythology, possibly more than people will realize.
