SDCC: Greg Nicotero Discusses the Loss of the Legendary George A. Romero During ‘The Walking Dead’ Panel

Today is the day at San Diego Comic-Con! The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, showrunner Scott M. Gimple, executive producers Gale Anne Hurd and Dave Alpert and executive producer/director/special effects guru Greg Nicotero led the highly anticipated TWD panel which included the entire main cast of the series.

After debuting the absolutely insane first season 8 trailer, the panel opened up for discussion and a question and answer session from fans in the audience.  During the discussion, a fan asked Nicotero about the legacy which George A. Romero left behind after his passing.

Romero passed away earlier this week after losing a battle with lung cancer.  Shortly after learning of his passing, The Walking Dead crew took to social media to honor and pay tribute to their inspiration, influence and, in Nicotero’s case, mentor.

During Friday’s panel, Nicotero shared a sweet story about attending a screening of a Romero film and geeking out over visiting the Monroeville Mall, where Romero filmed Dawn of the Dead and then speaking with Romero about how important it was to him to visit the iconic filming locations. Check out the clip below:
