SDCC 2018: Andrew Lincoln Comments on His ‘The Walking Dead’ Series Exit

For the past few months, the hot topic of conversation surrounding The Walking Dead has been whether or not the series’ star Andrew Lincoln was exiting after the upcoming ninth season.

During San Diego Comic-Con, creator Robert Kirkman confirmed that Lincoln was, in fact, departing the series. This news has sent shock waves throughout all of The Walking Dead fandom. Now, Andrew Lincoln himself has spoken on the subject.

During the series’ Hall H San Diego Comic-Con panel, Lincoln addressed the crowd by saying, “This will be my last season playing the part of Rick Grimes. I love this show. It means everything to me. I love the people who make this show. I’m particularly fond of the people who watch this show.”

He did, however, leave fans with a slight sense of hope. He continued by saying, “my relationship with Rick Grimes is far from over.”

What this all means for the future of Rick Grimes and for The Walking Dead, in general, has yet to be revealed, but season nine is going to be one hell of a final ride for Lincoln.
