‘Saturday Night Live’ Announces ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Star as Season 48 Premiere Host

With its return on Saturday Night Live, the franchise is getting a brand new lease of life. Top Gun Maverick has been in theaters since May, but star Miles Teller was chosen to host the Season 28 debut. On Tuesday, NBC and SNL revealed the first hosts and musical performers for the first three episodes of the season.

Teller will make his SNL debut on Oct 1 Teller played the younger version of Nick “Goose” Bradshaw in Top Gun: Maverick. The film has received widespread critical acclaim and has earned more than $1.4 billion worldwide to date.

Tom Cruise’s highest-grossing movie is the fifth-highest-grossing movie of all time domestically. Paramount plans to release the movie on home video in November. Teller also had a recurring role in the Netflix film Spiderhead, which was produced and directed by Top Gun: Maverick‘s Joseph Kosinski.

The Oct. 1 musical performer will be Kendrick Lamar, a rapper who has been on Saturday Night Live three times before. This will be his first performance as a musical guest since 2014, but he also appeared as a guest in 2014 and 2018 when he joined Imagine Dragons and Anderson .Paak, respectively. right now, Lamar is touring to promote his album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.

The new season of SNL will start on Saturday, September 28th at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
