Riz Ahmed is About to be ‘Hamlet’ in the Upcoming Netflix Adaption
The Night Of star Riz Ahmed is currently in talks to star in the upcoming Netflix adaption of Hamlet.
The adaption will be written by Mike Lesslie who wrote 2015’s Macbeth starring Michael Fassbender and will be set in a modern-day London that’s surrounded by “economic and political uncertainty” with the classic Shakespearean themes of “familial honor, moral duty and dynastic corruption.” On screen, Ahmed joins the likes of Ethan Hawke, Mel Gibson and Kenneth Branagh for the role of Hamlet.
Ahmed was recently nominated for two Primetime Emmy awards where he walked home with the win for Oustanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Moviefor his role in HBO’s The Night Of, making him the first man of South Asian descent to win an Emmy.
He recently starred in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and will soon be appearing in The Sister Brother alongside Joaquin Phoenix and his Nightcrawler co-star Jake Gyllenhaal with Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff Venom starring Tom Hardy also on the horizon.

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
