Optimus Prime will return for the ‘Bumblebee’ Movie

After five Transformers movies featuring the ever so epic war between the Autobots and the Decepticons, we can finally expect things to slow down a little bit with the newest installment in the ‘series’ – The Bumblebee movie.

The movie will follow our favorite little yellow Autobot in the late 80’s, about two decades before he became guardian to Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf).

While there have been very limited details released in regards to the plot or which transformers will be making an appearance in the movie, there is one thing that we now know for sure. One of our favorite Autobots will be returning for the film and that will be their fearless leader, Optimus Prime.

While promoting the home release of Transformers: The Last Knight with Frank Welker, the voice of Megatron, Optimus Prime’s voice actor, Peter Cullen, revealed to CineMovie that he’ll be lending his vocal talents to the Bumblebee movie.

So far Bumblebee and Optimus Prime are the only officially identified Transformers confirmed to appear in the Bumblebee movie. Director Travis Knight was photographed next to a red 1971 Plymouth GTX that appears to be a Decepticon, but that character has yet to be identified.

It will certainly be interesting to see exactly what Bumbleebee was doing on earth for almost 20 years, before he joined forces with Sam to stop the evil Megatron from destroying planet Earth.

Set in 1987, Bumblebee will follow Charlie Watson (Hailee Steinfeld), a girl who’s about to turn 18 and trying to find her place in the world. One day Charlie finds a beaten-down Volkswagen Beetle in a junkyard, and after getting it up and running she discovers that there’s more than meets the eye with this car.

Bumblebee rolls out into theaters on December 21, 2018.
