Fresh off the debut of Lifetime’s One Tree Hill mini-reunion movie The Christmas Contract, Tyler Hilton has released his latest Christmas single “Don’t Feel Like Christmas” and it channels the delightfully bluesy vibe that Hilton’s fans have grown to love throughout his career.
While the song features a more melancholy tone, it’s one that a lot of people can relate to. “Don’t Feel Like Christmas” touches on those feelings you have when you just can’t get into the Christmas spirit because you aren’t spending it with the one that you love.
“I always loved the bluesy, longing Christmas songs best, and I was visiting family in Canada last Christmas and sitting at this beautiful, old piano, looking outside at all the snow, and this music just started spilling out. It kept playing in my head after I got home to sunny LA, and I found myself singing, ‘Don’t feel like Christmas,” Hilton told The Boot last month.
Hilton has covered Christmas songs before, including a beautiful rendition of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, but this song was even more special because he was able to perform it in front of some of his old One Tree Hill co-stars for Lifetime’s The Christmas Contract. The movie followed a recently single woman named Jolie (Hilarie Burton) who is dreading going back home for the first time and seeing her ex-boyfriend. When she hears that he’s dating a new woman, her best friend Naomi (Daneel Ackles) suggests that Jolie bring her brother, Jack (Robert Buckley) with her with the help of a Christmas Contract. Hilton performed “Don’t Feel Like Christmas” during the movie, which aired on November 22nd.
Hilton joined One Tree Hill in season 2 as the troublemaking bad-boy musician, Chris Kellar. While his character didn’t receive the warmest of welcomes (no one comes between Naley!) he would occasionally and hilariously pop in every once in a while, before receiving an extremely great redemption arc in the show’s final season.
Hilton also appeared as a series regular on CBS’s Extant alongside Halle Berry. The show followed Berry as an astronaut who struggles to learn that she became pregnant while one a thirteen-month solo space mission. It ran for two seasons from 2012-2015. Other credits for Hilton include Pitch, His Wives and Daughters, and Elemental: Hydrogen vs. Hindenburg. Earlier this year, Hilton also released a brand new singled called “City on Fire” which you can listen to below!

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
