Here’s What Tommy Wiseau Was Going to Say Into That Mic at the Golden Globes

Last night’s 75th Annual Golden Globes was full of sweet surprises, typical snubs, and plenty of chat-worthy moments with one of the most interesting parts of the evening going to James Franco right after he won the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for The Disaster Artist.

In the film, Franco played the part of Tommy Wiseau and told the story of Wiseau’s journey to make the cult classic film The Room. So, when Franco won the award he brought Wiseau and his brother Dave Franco, who also stars in the movie, to share the moment with him. Well, Wiseau wasted no time beelining for the microphone and became just mere seconds away from delivering what was bound to be something epic before being stopped by Franco.

Here's What Tommy Wiseau Was Going to Say Into That Mic at the Golden Globes

So, naturally, people wanted to know just what exactly the man had to say, including Franco’s BFF Seth Rogen who told The Los Angeles Times,  “I want to know what Tommy was going to say! He looked like he was going for it!”

Thankfully, The Los Angeles Times was also able to catch up with Wiseau after the ceremony and gave him the perfect platform to give the speech that he was denied.

“If a lot of people loved each other, the world would be a better place to live. See The Room, have fun, and enjoy life. The American Dream is alive, and it’s real.”

While it was definitely a sweet statement, Wiseau has a reputation for being a tad unpredictable so Franco was probably erring on the side of caution when he pushed him aside. However, Wiseau has no bad blood towards Franco.

“He did such a great job, talking as a director and an actor. I think he make a big effort, which sometimes from the outside is extremely difficult to understand that. He did good with accent. His brother Dave did good as well. They really studied character. But he doesn’t know how to throw football, that’s for sure!”

In his speech, Franco touched on a moment from nearly 20 years ago that spurred the fire in Wiseau to create what would soon become The Room.

“Nineteen years ago, this guy was stuck in traffic from the Golden Globes, he said to his best friend Greg, ‘Golden Globes? So what, I’m not invited. I know they don’t want me, guy with accent, long hair, so I show them. I don’t wait for Hollywood, I make my own movie,'” Franco said as Wiseau nodded along next to him.

From the looks of it, it appears that Wiseau could go a lot further than the Golden Globes. Franco’s performance has been praised by critics and he is definitely a crowd favorite to get an Oscar nomination for the role. Perhaps Wiseau will be given an opportunity to speak there should Franco take home the coveted golden statue. We know we’d sure love to hear from him!
